LARKRISE

Port Ramsay, Isle of Lismore, Argyll
Scotland

Larkrise is a traditional, cosy, stone-built cottage, 25 metres from the shoreline in the tiny Conservation village of Port Ramsay, which is on the unspoilt Isle of Lismore in Loch Linnhe, north-west of Oban.

We run it on a non-profit-making basis, charging a maximum of £190 per week.

The cottage sleeps four plus a baby, in two bedrooms; there's also a lounge diner with solid fuel stove, a kitchen and a shower room.

It is simply but comfortably furnished, with plenty of books, toys, games and jigsaws to entertain all ages.

It's a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life - we have no TV, and there is no Internet access in the house.

Views from all windows are superb.

Lismore means 'Great Garden', and wild flowers are abundant, as are sea birds.  Otters and seals can often be seen too.

The island offers excellent walking and cycling.  It has a Heritage Centre with museum and cafe, a shop and a church.

You can reach Lismore by passenger ferry from Port Appin or by car ferry from Oban, and there is a taxi service available.
