Farne View House & Cottages

 Holy Island

Holy Island is a wonderful destination for families, walkers, nature lovers, birdwatchers, those interested in our cultural heritage or those who just want a place to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Our three cottages are centrally situated off the Market Place on Fenkle Street in the village of Holy Island. Lindisfarne Priory and Castle are within easy reach of the cottages, as are the sandy beaches, the harbour and stunning views.
It is the ideal location from which to discover the Northumbrian countryside, World Heritage coastline, castles, stately homes and exciting outdoor sports that the region has to offer. A little further south (about 20 mins) is Alnwick – the ancestral seat of the Duke of Northumberland. The castle, where the Harry Potter films were made, in its stunning riverside setting, is available to visit as a separate attraction to the famous Alnwick Garden which always has a lovely Autumn display. The Tree House Restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy coffee or lunch.
Bamburgh and its castle, only a short drive away on the mainland, has wonderful long white beaches along the dunes with rock pools to explore at any time of the year along with the Grace Darling Museum.
The historic Borders market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed on the nearby mainland has amazing Elizabethan fortifications and cannons on its town ramparts.
From the harbour at Seahouses there are regular boat trips to the Farne Islands, home to huge colonies of seals, puffins, eider ducks, guillemots, cormorants, shags, fulmars and terns. Some boats land on the island but all skirt closely round the rocks t
o give you unrivalled views of these incredible colonies. Trips go on until October and they are thoroughly recommended.
