Ambleside Backpackers – Your Independent Lake District Hostel in Ambleside

Looking for a place for a Church group holiday, a large group away day, weekend or retreat? For groups of between 20 - 40 people this really is a great place to be. For 40 - 60 people its still a great place to stay but of course its a bit more frantic. We did used to have 72 beds in here when we took over -so although 60 sound a lot is a lot its a realistic working occupancy.

We had 20 guy's from Chippenham Churches mens group's here recently, We had a wonderful weekend which included an hour of prayer and praise for the nation in 'the clouds' on top of Scafell, Englands highest mountain, followed by a group meal in the evening. Sunday morning we had comunion in the lounge before they all started the journey south. We have had students from Bible college, small church groups, one come up each year from Sussex and we would be pleased to discuss your particular needs.

We do of course welcome travelers of every creed and country;

Bring the whole church! hire the whole building The hostel is ideally situated in the heart of the lakes just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside at the north end of Lake Windermere.

Many people find the lakes a really uplifting place to just be quiet and be, -the hostel can also be quite special as a place to start your time of relaxation or retreat into Gods world on the fells. Week days are quiet in the winter -so is the hostel.

The hostel is well equipped with a large comfortable lounge, a dining room with a fine mouldad plaster ceiling ( a remenant of when the room was the parlor in a Lady's residence), a really useful and well equipped kitchen, drying room (should it happen to rain), laundy room, bike store, male and female facilities, central heating and lots of beds -60 to be precise. These are all bunk beds and in rooms of various sizes, so most group sizes can be accommodated.
